YEti Board

Statement of Purpose

The YETI Board consists of a group of teens who represent the larger teen community at Temple Israel. Board members plan, promote, and execute programming for our 8th-12th Graders. Members of the Executive Board guide members of the General Board in accomplishing their tasks and responsibilities.

Time Commitment
All YETI Board members are responsible for consistent attendance at the the following events throughout the year. If you are unable to attend due to a legitimate conflict, you must notify the Rabbi Pinsky in advance:
- 7 of 8 Academy Sundays. Oct 15, Nov 12, Dec 10, Jan 21, Feb 4, March 3, Apr 14, May 19
- 8 of 9 Monthly YETI Board Meetings – to be held both in-person and virtually.
- To the best of your ability, 6 of 8 YETI Events. (These are weekend events planned by the Board; past events have included escape rooms, Shabbat dinners, movie nights, etc.). Sep 30, Oct 27, Nov 19, Dec 1, Jan 12, Mar 10, Apr 12, May 3.
- At least 3 special temple events: High Holy Day services, Rise Against Hunger, Project Ezra, Purim Carnival, Mitzvah Day, Senior Siyyum, Rockin’ Shabbat, etc.
- YETI Board Training
- ***Board members are also strongly encouraged to join our grade-level Academy trip(s):*** 
  - 8th-9th Grade: Civil Rights Trip or New Orleans 
  - 10th-12th Grade: Prague, Berlin, Israel and/or Washington, DC
General Responsibilities
All candidate for the 2023-2024 YETI Executive and General Boards will agree to meet the following qualifications for a leadership role in the organization:
- Enrollment in the Academy “All-Access” tier for the 2023-2024 school year.
- Maintain enthusiasm for representing the organization.
- Act at all times as a role model for the Jewish community.
- Act at all times as an ambassador/spokesperson for the teens and youth of Temple Israel.
- Maintain regular contact with the Youth Director and other members of the Board.
- Maintain regular contact with the general membership of YETI relating to events and other activities.
- Fulfill other reasonable duties that may arise after discussion with Rabbi Pinsky and/or members of the Executive Board.
Election Process
- Executive Board
  - Fill out your application declaring interest in a position.
  - If running unopposed, you’ll be automatically appointed.
  - If contested, a traditional election will take place.
- General Board
  - Fill out your application, ranking your interest in each position(s)
  - Positions will be slated by the staff based on interest and the needs of the Board. Voting delegates will have a chance to approve the slate before it is finalized.

Executive Board Positions

Chair of the Board
Applicants must have previously served as President.
Responsibilities include:
In consultation with Rabbi Pinsky, act as an advisor to the President, providing them with guidance in overseeing all other officers and the successful execution of the organization.
Maintain regular contact with President, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their position.
President
Applicants must be a rising junior and must have previously served on the Executive or General YETI Board.
Responsibilities include:
In consultation with Rabbi Pinsky, oversee all other officers and the successful execution of the organization.
Act as a liaison between Rabbi Pinsky and the YETI Board.
Work with the Youth Director to create agendas for board meetings, and then facilitate the execution of those meetings.
Maintain regular contact with all board members, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective positions.
Act as a liaison between the youth community and the temple’s Board of Trustees by attending monthly adult Temple Israel Board meetings as a non-voting member. Meetings typically last from 6-7pm on a Tuesday and are held both virtually and in-person; dates will be shared as soon as they are finalized.
Executive Vice President
Applicants must have previously served on the Executive or General YETI Board.
Up to 4 Executive Vice Presidents will be elected and collectively will assign themselves the following responsibilities:
Maintain regular contact with the Grade Representatives and General Board members, and work with them to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective positions.
Oversee planning and execution of team building activities, social justice programs, religious/cultural elements at broader temple events, the Academy, and YETI events where appropriate.
Oversee promotion and participant recruitment for all events.
Maintain YETI’s social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
Ensure that all participants feel welcome and included at all programs.

General Board Positions

Grade Representatives
Up to 2 grade-level representatives for each grade (8th-12th) will be elected and will collectively work together to accomplish the following responsibilities:
Promote events within their grade cohort and recruit participants to attend.
Represent the interests of their grade cohort at YETI Board meetings.
Maintain regular contact with the one or more of the Executive VPs in the promotion of and recruitment for events.
General Board Member
A virtually unlimited number of teens will be elected to serve as General Board Members. In consultation with Rabbi Pinsky and the Executive Board, the following responsibilities will be assigned to General Board Members depending on their skillset, interests, and level of commitment.
Lead of team building activities, social justice programs, religious/cultural elements at broader temple events, the Academy, and YETI events where appropriate.
Represent the interests of general Academy ad YETI members at YETI Board meetings.
Maintain regular contact with the one or more of the Executive VPs in the implementation of programs and events.
