ADMISSIONS

ADMISSIONS

Welcome prospective families!!  We look forward to getting to know you and introducing you to all that the ECLC has to offer to your child and your family.  Please don’t hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions along the way.  We know that this can be a stressful process and we want to make it as easy as possible for you.

Please note that children must be 2 years old (or older) on or before August 31, 2024 to be eligible to apply for the 2024-25 school year.

Admissions Process

There are a few required steps to our Admissions Process and then a few optional ones, to help you better get to know our community.

Application

Applications were due on November 30, 2023.  If you are interested in applying after this deadline, please reach out to our school office at eclc@templeisraelnyc.org.

Tour

Join our Early Childhood Director, Lisa Samick, for an insider look into the daily lives of our classrooms.  Along with a Parent Ambassador and some of our other ECLC staff, our tour will walk you through how we think about teaching and learning and what your child’s experience might be like as part of our school.  While we offer a few evening tours, to make this accessible for all families, children and teachers will not be in the building for evening tours.  Tours are offered mid October – early December and  last for approximately 90 minutes.  You do not need to submit your application before you tour.

Parent Meeting

You will be invited to meet over zoom with Lisa for an individual conversation.  This is an opportunity for us to get to know your child and your family better and for you to hear more details about the ECLC and Temple Israel.  These meetings last for 20-30 minutes and are offered in January and February.

Optional Add-ons to the Admissions Process

We understand that choosing an early childhood program is a big and difficult decision and we want to provide ample opportunity for you to get to know our incredible community.  None of the events listed below are required for your application, but we invite you to take advantage of anything that feels helpful for your process. Additionally, you are welcome to join us for any Tot Shabbat or Family Program during these admissions months.

Child Visit (January & February)

This is an opportunity for your child to come and play in one of our classrooms with some of our current ECLC teachers.

Open School Night (February)

Join the ECLC and Temple staff for a cocktail and some snacks, with an opportunity to walk through our classrooms again.  Teachers will be on hand to answer questions and to tell you more about the studies that are currently happening in the rooms.

Notification

Letters of notification will be emailed to parents on Thursday, February 29, 2024, as per the guidelines of the Independent School Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY).

Early Decision Eligibility

The option of Early Decision Notification is offered to sibling applicants, children of alumni and Temple Israel members who joined the synagogue prior to September 2022.  If families who meet one or more of these requirements, elect Early Decision Notification, their application and early decision form are due back by October 31, 2023.

2023-2024 Classes & Tuitions

2s and young 3s: Our youngest students are filled with wonder about the world around them.  Our warm, nurturing classrooms provide the perfect backdrop for your child’s separation and for their incredible growth during this time.  We work with the children to become more independent and to develop their sense of pride and self-confidence.

3s: In the 3s we are focusing on developing the whole child:  social and emotional development, speech and language development, fine and gross motor development, cognitive development and creative expression through art, music, drama, and movement.  We work to foster problem-solving skills, emotional regulation, and resilience through a lens of respect and kindness.

4s and 5s: Building on the skills our 4s and 5s have already mastered, the focus of these years is to create lifelong learners who are driven by their own curiosity and self-efficacy.  Children navigate the classroom and their learning independently and in collaboration with their peers, guided by our educators.  Our students leave these classrooms infinitely prepared for their next educational journey – both in terms of learning and in terms of being a part of a community.
