Throughout our planning, we have considered what can be done most effectively in-person vs. virtually, as well as how we can leverage the benefits of both to create a meaningful learning experience. We are committed to creating safe ways to bring small groups together in person (with physical distancing and masks) to compliment the virtual learning plan. We will provide more information regarding these opportunities in future communication.

Participating in the Madrichim program is a wonderful opportunity to work on leadership skills, earn volunteer hours, and give back to your Temple Israel community. Madrichim are always our first calls when looking for teens to volunteer or staff other programs, so participating in the program can open the door to many other opportunities.

You will be assigned to a virtual class to work with until December. We will work with you and the teacher in your classroom to define your role based on your skills and interests. You will receive monthly training, as well as extensive preparation in the beginning of the year.

Eligibility

Teens must be registered for the Academy to apply. 

8th-12th Graders may apply to work with Grades K-5 in Religious School.
When: Mondays and/or Wednesdays, 4:15-5:45pm

10th-12th Graders may apply to work with Grades 6-7 in Jr. Academy.
When: Mondays and/or Wednesdays, 5:00-5:45pm (Hebrew) and/or 5:45-7:00pm (Class)

Madrichim Application »

Shabbat Sha’Buddies is a weekly virtual program. We ask that all buddies (Littles and Bigs), do their best to commit to attending weekly. Of course, things may come up, but we would hate for your Buddy to be left without you!

Our K-3 Graders will be paired with our dedicated and enthusiastic teens to help build social connections and special mentor/mentee relationships! This is a wonderful opportunity for our youngest learners to have a consistent supervised check-in with a “cool older sibling” during otherwise hectic times.

For our 8-12 Graders, participating in the Shabbat Sha’Buddies program is a wonderful opportunity to work on leadership skills, earn volunteer hours, and give back to your Temple Israel community. We will provide you with suggested programming (games, activities, discussions, etc.) for you and your buddy, and Sarah will check in on your group throughout the program.

Eligibility

Buddies must be registered for Religious School (K-3 Grade) or the Academy (8-12 Grade) to participate.
