Temple Israel of the City of New York is a family of families; a warm, welcoming community on New York’s Upper East Side. We would love to speak with you about your interest in membership.

Temple Israel is a place where the nurturing of community, learning and spirituality are embraced and celebrated. We invite you to take a closer look and let the warmth of our congregation be a part of your year-round life. After all, in every generation, the synagogue remains the primary address of the Jewish community. Our members find a second home here to build their family and connect with their community, and we hope you do, too.

Enrollment in our Early Childhood Learning Center, our Religious School, and Sanctuary seating for the High Holy Days are reserved for members of the congregation. In order to make membership accessible for everyone who wish to become a part of our community, Temple Israel offers a variety of membership options.

Membership COMMITMENT 2024-25

Our community joyfully welcomes all who wish to belong to our “family of families” regardless of their financial ability. Special consideration is available upon request. Contact our Membership team with any questions.

Membership with Unreserved High Holy Day Seating
One Adult: $2,000 | Two Adults: $4,000
Includes one seat per adult member and seats for children ages 12-26.

Membership with Reserved High Holy Day Seating starts at $2,350*
Reserved seats for children start at $250 per seat.

Associate Membership
One Adult: $1,050 | Two Adults: $2,100
Member must live 150 miles outside of NYC; Includes 1 unreserved seat per adult member.

Young Family Membership
One Adult: $625 | Two Adults: $1,250
Parent(s) 34 and younger; oldest child is 5 or younger and not enrolled in the ECLC or Religious School Includes 1 unreserved seat per adult member.

NYConnect Membership
One Adult: $180 | Two Adults: $360
21-34 years old; Reduced or free admission to NYConnect social events held at Temple Israel and reduced admission to The NYC Shabbat Collective events. Includes 1 unreserved seat per adult member.

Enhanced Membership Dues
Membership Dues are a primary revenue source for our Temple Israel community. Increasing your membership dues to an enhanced level allows Temple Israel’s doors to remain open to all families who wish to participate in our community regardless of their financial ability. Enhanced memberships include 4 Main Sanctuary reserved seats in any chosen location. We are grateful for your consideration.

To ensure the safety of our members, children & guests an annual security fee of $500 per household or $250 per individual will be added.
Temple membership, regardless of category, does not guarantee admission to the ECLC. Families must be members of TI for at least 2 years to qualify for Early Decision.
All memberships include tickets to High Holy Day services.
