You’ll be riveted by Professor Lisa Bordetsky-Williams, author of FORGET RUSSIA, a historical novel based on her family’s surprising story of reversals. Little has been written about Russian Jews like them, who emigrated to the United States in the early 1900s, both before and after the Bolshevik Revolution—only to be lured back to Russia in the 1930s. Bordetsky-Williams will share her extensive research. Battered by the Depression and falling prey to propaganda extolling Communism, these Jews supported the egalitarian ideals of the Revolution, later becoming disillusioned. FORGET RUSSIA chronicles three generations of her family and other Russian Jews journeying back and forth between the United States and the Soviet Union during the 20th Century. The novel features an unexpected hero who saves everyone from a terrible fate. You do not need to read FORGET RUSSIA to appreciate this exciting talk.
