The Playgroup offers a warm and nurturing first “preschool” experience as children are encouraged to explore, create and grow in an intimate setting. The program includes a gradual separation from parents/and or caregivers once children form new bonds with teachers and peers. The Playgroup includes a diverse set of activities designed to grow social/emotional abilities, cognitive development and motor skills including play, circle time, snack, messy art projects, movement, and weekly music time. An introduction to Jewish traditions, celebrations and song are woven into the curriculum. We celebrate Shabbat and holidays together throughout the year.
The Playgroup meets for 90 minutes and a family member or caregiver is required to be on site during the entire program, even once separation has occurred. For the first few months of the program, adults will be integrated into the group, exploring the space alongside the child. As the child develops familiarity and a sense of trust, the adult will begin to step back and allow the child to rely on our teachers in the classroom. After a few months, the teachers, in collaboration with our Social Worker, will help to guide parents and caregivers through a gentle separation process that is paced appropriately for your child.
A Parent’s Group, facilitated by our Social Worker is held once per week on either Wednesdays or Thursdays, during class-time. We strongly encourage parents to attend on these days.
